It's Indigenous History Month! 🧡This month is an opportunity for all Canadians to learn about the unique histories and cultures of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people.

The library elevator is temporarily out of service 🚨Please ask the front desk for assistance in accessing the upper floors.

Signs on the elevators provide a phone number for you to call if you are on an upper floor and need assistance getting to another floor.

It's National Accessibility Week! Our library offers many different accessibility supports for SMU students and we want to highlight just a few:

🖥️ Assistive Technology Work Station: Provides software applications such as ZoomText, JAWS, and Kurzweil

🚪Accessible Study Room: Equipped with an automatic door, accessible outlets and light switches, moveable furniture, and adjustable lighting

⬆️Elevators: For accessing the second and third floor quiet study spaces and physical media

📖NNELS Access: NNELS is an online library of books in
DAISY, MP3 audio, and e-text formats for individuals with print disabilities

💡Online + In-Person Research Help: We offer research help via phone, text, email, or in-person

Be scent aware at the library (and everywhere at SMU)! ☁️

For some, scented products can trigger serious health reactions so we kindly ask our community to please refrain from using scented shampoos, deodorants, perfumes, and lotions before coming to the library.

This way we can keep the library as a welcoming space for everyone!

Last June, the Patrick Power Library honoured Marie DeYoung, who was the University Librarian for ten years between 2008-2018, by planting a flowering almond tree in her memory🌸

This spring we're enjoying the trees' first on-campus blooms to honour Marie's legacy of kindness and generosity.
