Kieran D’Sena’s journey at McMaster started 22 years ago. Diagnosed with blood cancer at age two, Kieran was treated at McMaster Children’s Hospital. That experience is what first drew him to iBioMed, hoping to learn how to save others the way he was saved.
Sometimes things don’t go to plan, but you end up where you’re meant to be. One of the pediatricians who treated Kieran told him something that changed his entire trajectory when they reconnected at Mac: confusing gratitude with purpose is one of the most dangerous things a person can do, and passion has to be the real reason you stay. So, he chased his passion instead of his past, taking him straight to Engineering Physics.
