Confirmed COVID-19 Cases at Mohawk College Campuses
As an update related to health and safety at Mohawk College, Hamilton Public Health has confirmed two new positive COVID-19 cases connected with Mohawk College campuses; one at Stoney Creek and one at Fennell Campus.

The two students involved are enrolled in different programs and their infections have been linked to community contact, not through participation in required on-campus college programming. Each student last attended classes on January 21, 2021. Safety protocols were followed while on the campuses.

The students and Mohawk College have been cooperating with Public Health officials in relation to these cases. On the advice of Public Health, the College has contacted everyone considered to have been in contact with these students and have asked those students to self-isolate until February 4.

It is vital that personal health information and identifiers are not released, and the privacy of everyone involved is respected.

As a reminder, we ask everyone in the Mohawk College community to continue to assess their health daily. If you are visiting a Mohawk College campus, respond to the assessment questions honestly on your Mohawk Safety app as part of the entry process.

In order for our college to remain compliant with Public Health guidelines, all college protocols and safety measures must be followed. The College expects all students and employees to recognize the impact of their actions and to prioritize the health and safety of all community members. Students and employees who do not comply with these necessary Public Health and safety standards will be managed through the Student Behaviour Policy and Human Resources, respectively.

Keep yourself and those around you safe
As we continue to learn, teach and work at the college during the COVID-19 health crisis, we all need to do our part to stop the spread of the virus.

Follow the advice of our Public Health experts.

Keep your distance from others.
Wash your hands regularly.
Wear a non-medical mask when in indoor public places and any time physical distancing is not possible.
If you are feeling ill, stay home and consult a physician.
We understand that you may have questions. You can find college information, updates and support contacts related to COVID-19 at https://www.mohawkcollege.ca/covid-19-coronavirus.

Thank you for doing your part in keeping the community safe.

Mohawk College continues to adapt plans in response to the COVID-19 pandemic based on guidance from our local Public Health authority.

Mohawk Safety App
To gain access to campus, you must complete the daily screening questionnaire, which is available on the Mohawk Safety App under the COVID-19 Section. Your screening must be completed on the day you are coming to campus. The results of your screening will be emailed to you and Mohawk Security.

Mohawk's Safety app contains a wide set of resources to stay safe while on campus. These resources include quick access to emergency contacts, reporting crime tips, sexual assault resources, and a personal safety toolbox.

The app quickly connects users with security, police and Walk Smart. It also has a link to the Security Twitter feed, as well as college emergency procedures and policies. It's available in the iTunes store, and Google Play store.

All international students travelling to Mohawk College from outside of Canada are required to self-isolate for a period of 14-days. FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
January 2021 – Program Delivery Update

After carefully considering a number of options, Mohawk College has made the decision to deliver the Winter 2021 semester through a combination of remote/virtual learning and in-person delivery.

The health and well-being of our students and employees remains our highest priority and is the key guiding factor in our decision-making process. Our plan includes the delivery of lecture-based program components in a remote/virtual environment while all required face-to-face deliveries (e.g. labs, simulations, assessments, etc.) will be delivered on campus. Regardless of how your courses are delivered you can be confident that it will meet the learning outcomes for your programs, while ensuring the quality educational experience you expect from Mohawk.

It is important to emphasize that our plan for the January semester is based on current information. As we have learned with the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation can change very quickly, and we may be forced to alter or change our plans unexpectedly in the weeks and months ahead. For more information please watch the COVID-19 Website.

What you need to know before coming to campus
*Important Information for Students (International and Canadian) Arriving from Outside Canada
All international students travelling to Mohawk College from outside of Canada are required to self-isolate for a period of 14-days. Also, any other students returning to Canada within 14-days of the start date of their program must also complete a 14-day self-isolation period. These rules apply after any subsequent international travel for as long as the self-isolation requirement remains a directive of the Government of Canada.

Where Mohawk College becomes aware of any compliance issues within the 14-day mandatory self-isolation period; and/or any cases of COVID-19 infection during the 14-day mandatory quarantine period, we will coordinate with Public Health Authorities and other local authorities where necessary.

New! COVID-19 testing requirements for all students, international and Canadian arriving from outside Canada.

The Government of Canada is mandating one COVID-19 test to be administered to every student who has travelled internationally in advance of classes starting. This test should be undertaken during the 14-day quarantine period and in advance of arrival to campus. Ideally, this test will be completed by students on days 4 or 5 of your self-isolation period. For full instructions on how to book your COVID test, and supports available to you, visit the Testing During Self Isolation section found within the COVID Safe menu in the iCent app. Information on how to download the app is available on our website.

Note: all students arriving to Canada must complete the forms within the COVID Safe menu, under Arriving to Canada Forms. For questions about your self-isolation and testing requirement, please reach out to [email protected]
