The 1st Canadian Ranger Patrol Group would like to extend our condolences to the Airut family and the Igloolik Ranger Patrol on the passing of Canadian Ranger Lukie Airut on February 8, 2018 of natural causes.

Lukie enrolled as a Canadian Ranger on March 10, 1987. He received the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) in March 1999, the Special Service Medal – Ranger (SSM Rgr) in June 2006 and the CD 1st Clasp in 2011. Lukie served as a Canadian Ranger with the Igloolik Patrol for about 31 years.

On behalf of the Commanding Officer and all staff at 1 CRPG Ranger Headquarters in Yellowknife, our very deepest sympathy.

Let us make sure the communities start seeing partnerships from QIA, let us make sure its the communities that are getting help in their needs, rather then just hearing we represent Inuit, not just talk but real tangible thing sthat Inuit can use for betterment of their lives. We need to see in our communities from Inuit organizations!

I believe it is high time the communities get what they deserve, and that RIAs start to bring into the communities benefits, whether it be in monetary or infrustructure needs. We need our Dev. Corpotaions to work more closely with local business by partnering with local businessess in our communities. Thats what I would want to see done. Inuit have been waiting too too long for things tha twe said would happen when we signed the NLCA.
