Privacy, security, and trust research doesn't happen in a vacuum, and yesterday's PST2026 Industry Day at uOttawa Kanata North proved exactly that, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, and government partners for a full day of conversation on Canada's cyber resilience agenda.
The day opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Vio Onut, Dr. Guy-Vincent Jourdan, Sean D. Geddes, Dr. Alexandre Poulain, and Tom West of the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, setting the stage for what followed.
From there, the sessions moved fast:
- A panel on Cybersecurity in the Age of AI-Driven Threats, unpacking how frontier AI models are reshaping both the threat landscape and the defensive toolkit, moderated by Hawasli of IBM Canada.
- An Industry Spotlight from Fortinet's Smetny on building enterprise cyber resilience in the age of agentic AI.
- A Research and Innovation Spotlight featuring . Lionel Briand and . Leah West, showcasing leading Canadian cybersecurity and privacy research.
- A panel on Canada First: Defending the Digital Frontline, examining how Canada can strengthen national cyber readiness across government, defence, and critical infrastructure.
- A panel on Quantum Implications for Cybersecurity, exploring post-quantum cryptography and Canada's opportunity to lead in quantum-safe infrastructure.
- And rotating B2B Working Groups, bringing industry, researchers, funders, and public-sector stakeholders together on AI infrastructure, funding pathways, and applied research demonstrations at the Smart Connected Vehicles Innovation Centre.
Thank you to every speaker, moderator, and attendee who made the day what it was. This is what Kanata North does best.
