AIGSQ is proud to have facilitated, for the Yellow House's Culture Connect Program, We-Desi: A Republic Day Meet-and-Greet, for Indian graduate students at Queen's! Held on the 25th of January, we celebrated India's Republic Day and the experiences and camaraderie that comes with being international students in a land far from home. A trivia game was arranged by Shashank Satish, that tested (far too well) our knowledge of India's history and the present, and a screening of the short film Tokri (The Basket) - all of which was rounded out by homely ethnic snacks and drinks. We look forward to hosting more such meetings, and we are deeply grateful to the Yellow House for their support and for the wonderful space that they have created for BIPOC students on campus. Here's to many more such events, and the warmth and friendships they foster!

The Culture Connect Program, in partnership with the Association of Indian Graduate Students at Queen’s, is proud to present, We-Desi! A Republic Day Meet-and-Greet.
This event is named in honour of both our experience as “videsi”, those who have travelled to foreign lands, and “we”, as in the collective experience of Indianness that makes us who we are. We extend an invitation to all students, Indian and otherwise, to join us on the eve of India’s 76th Republic Day, to share a moment together, surrounded by food, music and laughter that reminds us of home.
If you wish to attend, do fill out the RSVP by noon of the 24th of January, 2026 - https://forms.gle/4gojtgijVhg6LiKG7.
The event will be held at the Yellow House at Rideau Building, from 5 to 8 pm on the 25th of January, Sunday.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
