Happy International Women’s Day from Queen’s Women and Law! Founded in 1981 during a time when Queen’s Law was primarily male-dominated, we take pride in the significant shift we’ve witnessed over the years. Today, female-identifying law students form the majority at Queen’s Law, a remarkable achievement reflecting the strides made towards gender diversity.
However, the fact that women now make up the majority does not lessen the significance of occasions like International Women’s Day or the vital role played by organizations like ours. At Queens Women and Law, our dedication remains unwavering in advocating for and supporting women in the legal profession.
Our commitment is multifaceted, extending beyond mere numerical representation. We actively engage in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all women pursuing legal careers. Through a range of initiatives, including networking events, information-sharing platforms, and empowering workshops, we strive to empower women, providing them with the tools and resources needed to thrive in the legal field.
As we celebrate the progress made, we recognize the ongoing need for collective efforts to ensure gender equality remains a priority. Queens Women and Law remains at the forefront of these efforts, standing as a testament to the continuous commitment to advancing the role of women in the legal profession.
On this International Women’s Day, our Executive Team will be volunteering at Martha’s Table, a local organization dedicated to serving food and fostering friendship within the community. What are you doing this IWD?
