This fall, Queen's School of Computing is offering three new AI literacy courses: ARIN 100, 101, and 121.

Designed for students across disciplines, these courses combine practical, hands-on learning with an accessible introduction to AI concepts. Whether you want to better understand AI, build your digital literacy, or prepare for an AI-enabled workplace, there’s a course to help you get started.

What do beading and astroparticle physics have in common? More than you might think.

On Monday, the McDonald Institute celebrated the launch of the Beading Astroparticle Physics project, an initiative led by Dr. Danielle Lussier (Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures) that brought Indigenous Knowledges and Perspectives and astroparticle physics into conversation. Participants, including Masters, PhD, post docs, and faculty, explored astroparticle physics through Métis beadwork. The event was part of the Institute's Community Annual Meeting.

The McDonald Institute, in partnership with the Office of Indigenous Initiatives - Queen's University, the Department of Physics, Astronomy and Physics Engineering, and the Agnes Etherington Art Centre have unveiled a new mural in Stirling Hall. The two panels on the outside are original paintings by Will Morin, and the other panels are digital prints of imagery by Quinn ᓂᑳᓐ ᓅᑎᓐ Hopkins. The panels move from past, present, to future, bringing Anishinaabe knowledge and astroparticle physics into the same frame. https://bit.ly/4yAtk4L

Canadian premiers are in Charlottetown, P.E.I., this week to tackle some of the country's most pressing challenges, including national security, interprovincial trade, health-care workforce shortages and economic growth. The McDonald Institute is continuing to make science accessible to all with the creation of a unique card game that allows both young and old to learn more about scientific projects in Canada and the Canadian researchers working on them.

The Astroparticle Physics Community Card Game is an open-source, community-driven project designed for the astroparticle physics research community and the general public. Cards are available for download or the McDonald Institute offers sets of cards for free. Each card features a photo of the researcher, information about them and their work, and a QR code that leads to their LinkedIn profile.
