CICE at Kingston SLC The CICE program at St. Lawrence College is a two year certificate program for adults with learning challenges. For more information, please visit our webpage.

The Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program is a two year certificate program designed for adults with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injury or other significant learning challenges who wish to further their education/vocational training in a community college setting. As a student, you will have the opportunity to complete an individualized program of study made up of courses from an area of concentration selected from St. Lawrence College’s program offerings, based on seat availability and suitability to your skill level. The courses will be tailored through a modification process to fit your academic abilities. You will be offered opportunities to develop and enhance your academic skills, and to develop and/or refine your abilities in a number of potential work environments through field placement experiences arranged by CICE program staff. You will receive support such as curriculum modification, note-taking, tutoring and other related academic services as needed. Upon successful completion of all courses and the field placement requirements you will graduate with an Ontario College Certificate in CICE.

Taking a seat until Tuesday!

This student found the perfect rock to sit and relax on during our conservation area field trip, and now it's everyone else's turn!

A reminder that students do not have classes, tutoring, homework support, or placement activities on Monday, October 12.

Enjoy the break, get some rest, and we'll see you back next week ready for more learning, skill-building, and fun!

At CICE, learning goes beyond the classroom! Our students have many opportunities for hands-on learning and skill-building, helping them develop practical skills they can use in the workplace and everyday life.

This week, students taking Carpentry elective courses were spotted around campus with tape measures in hand, putting their math and problem-solving skills to the test.

From teamwork and communication to critical thinking and workplace readiness, every activity helps our students grow. We’d say they’re really going the extra yard in their learning!

Students in Placement Simulation played cooperative board games this week! In a cooperative board game, players work together as a team instead of competing against each other. Everyone shares the same goal and wins or loses as a group. Players must communicate, solve problems, make decisions, and support one another to succeed.
Activities like these provide a fun and engaging way for students to practice essential workplace skills. We're proud of the collaboration, encouragement, and positive attitudes our students demonstrated throughout the activity!

Who knew learning could be so much fun? 🧱✨

In Placement Simulation, CICE students are developing essential employability skills through interactive team-building activities. As they work together to plan, communicate, and solve problems, they're also building the confidence and skills needed to succeed in future placements and workplaces.

Last week, CICE students came together for a fun Kahoot and Trivia Night at Social Society. There was lots of laughter, friendly competition, and great conversations.
It was especially nice to welcome some of our first year students and see new connections being made. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next Social Society event! 🎉

🔭 Looking for the weekend like... 👀

One of our students enjoyed exploring the outdoors during a recent field trip and took in the view through a pair of binoculars.

As the week comes to a close, we're all looking forward to a relaxing weekend ahead. Have a safe, fun, and restful weekend, everyone!

Learning goes beyond the classroom! A few CICE students recently took their learning into the great outdoors as part of an elective course field trip to a local conservation area.

During their visit, students explored nature firsthand and identified many of the plants they had been studying in class. The experience provided an opportunity to connect classroom learning with the natural world while enjoying a beautiful fall day!

We're grateful for opportunities to learn, connect, and experience the changing seasons together.

College is about more than classes. It's also about connection, community, and having fun.

CICE students have many opportunities to meet new people, build confidence, and create lasting friendships through campus activities and events. One of those opportunities is Social Society, where students can connect with peers, try new experiences, and enjoy fun activities together.

From games nights to special events, Social Society helps make college life memorable, welcoming, and full of opportunities to belong.

Today is Orientation, and tomorrow classes start!

We're ready to kick off the school year with our first year students. Whether you're meeting new people, exploring campus, or trying something new, Orientation Day is all about making connections and getting comfortable in your new community.

Just like a game of foosball, college is not about doing everything on your own. It's about working together, supporting one another, and celebrating every goal along the way.

We can't wait to see what you'll achieve this year. Welcome to the SLC community. We're so glad you're here.
