LPIRG embraces plurality and participation, and encourages students to critically evaluate the institutions and systems in which they take part.

LPIRG is a student resource centre at the University of Lethbridge, providing resources and support for students and community members to engage in social justice and environmental issues. LPIRG is a student-funded, student-directed, not-for-profit organization providing resources for undergraduate and graduate students to engage with environmental and social justice issues. LPIRG assists students in translating their knowledge through research, education, and action to serve public interest.

Want to help shape a more just and sustainable community? LPIRG is welcoming nominations for its 2026/27 Board of Directors! 📣

This role offers a chance to influence LPIRG’s priorities, support environmental and social justice initiatives, build leadership and governance experience, and collaborate with students and community members. 🌱

We have three student seats open: two undergraduate and one graduate position. Board members contribute at least 10 volunteer hours each month while supporting grassroots environmental and social justice work.

Ready to get involved? Submit both an application and a nomination form—find them on our website or through the link in our bio. Please confirm your submission by emailing [email protected].

The annual Sisters in Spirit vigil is being held on Sunday, October 4th at 6:30pm to honour the lives of missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and LGBTQIA individuals. 🕯️

If you are interested in volunteering, please follow the link in our LinkTree to sign-up. There are spots open throughout the evening for setup, takedown, and marshaling attendees from City Hall to Galt Gardens.

Vigil candles and warm beverages will be available at the entry to Galt Gardens. 🩶

We’re looking for volunteers to support the annual Sisters in Spirit Vigil on October 4, the national day to honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S). 🕯️

Each year, families, Indigenous community members, and allies gather in Lethbridge (and across Canada) to honour and remember missing and murdered Indigenous people. LPIRG staff, board members, and volunteers help make the event run smoothly and respectfully—and we’d love for you to be part of that support.

Volunteer roles can include:
Set-up support (at Galt Gardens and City Hall)
Walking guides/support for the walk from City Hall to Galt Gardens
Attendee support during the vigil
Clean-up support at the end of the ceremony
Set-up shift: 4:00–5:45 PM at Galt Gardens.

Volunteering is a meaningful way to show up in solidarity and if you need it, your volunteer hours can be tracked to include on your MyExperience transcript. 📝

As part of our September Fresh Food Box pickup, we’re excited to invite you to join us for a fun and creative activity: Junk Journaling & Scrapbooking! ✂️📚✨

On September 19th, come hang out with us and start creating your 2026/2027 school year scrapbook. 🗓️ Whether this is your first year at the UofL, your final year, or somewhere in between, we want to help you make the year memorable and create something you can look back on! 🥰

We’ll have supplies available for you to use for creating your scrapbook. Bring along any photos, keepsakes, stickers, or little pieces of your year that you’d like to include, but don’t worry if you don’t have very much yet! 🎨🗞️

This activity is open to students, so come by, get creative, and spend some time with us! We’d love to see you there. 🖊️📓

Hi friends 👋🏽 welcome back to campus, we've missed you!

LPIRG is in its first weeks settling back in, and we want to help you ground yourself too! One of the first initiatives back in action this year is our Fresh Food Boxes, provided in partnership with the Food for Thought Committee & Galimax Trading Co.

All students registered at the UofL (you're included too U of L GSA !) and with LPIRG fees paid (this is included in your student union fees) has the chance to register each month to receive a free, fresh, and local food box! 🍅🥒📦

Currently, each food box is valued at $25 cost (not grocery store prices, rather the price the grocery store pays) and includes staple items like tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, eggs and whatever else is seasonally available at the time!

Registration dates are posted above & the link will be live in our LinkTree and Website each month @ 1:00pm.

LPIRG Fresh Food Boxes *do* have a limited quantity available each month, so it *is* first come first serve - once our $900.00 monthly limit is reached forms close.

With that being said, this is an initiative that we want to grow & would love for you to reach out if you ever have issues with accessing this service or would like to learn how to support it - that will help inform our operations & our funding requests!

We also order a little extra produce each month for walk-ins & plan a social activity for each pickup - so if you're ordering, interested, or just looking to engage we'd love to have ya hang out! 🌞🌿

We will be discussing what LPIRG has been up to in the last year, what we have set ourselves up for in the coming year, and the opportunities for students to become further involved in the organization including Board Governance, Volunteer, and applied studies opportunities!
