Maj. Gen. John Turuk Khor Kuai, the SPLM/SPLA (IO) Military Governor of Unity State, has been appointed the Commander of Sector (2). Also appointed are Maj. Moses Ruai Khor and Maj. Gen. James Chuol Gatbuok as Division 4(A) and Division 4(B) Commanders, respectively. The appointment was made by the Acting Commander-In-Chief of the SPLA (IO) organized forces. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to these revolutionary Generals.

1. Col. Wayi Goodwil Edward, the newly appointed SPLA (IO) Spokesman, will keep you updated on the military operations and other relevant activities pertaining to the Military Wing.

🚨🚨BREAKINGNEWS:
Free Evangelical Church Burnt to Ashes in Maper West, NBGs

The Free Evangelical Church in Maper West, Northern Bahr El Ghazal reported burnt to ashes this afternoon at around 4:00 PM.

According to an official statement from the church leadership, the fire reportedly started on the rooftop of a nearby house before spreading to a second house where the church’s sound equipment was stored, and eventually reaching the church.

The sound system was rescued, and no lives were lost. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The church leadership has appealed for calm, prayers, and support from the government, partners, and believers to help rebuild the church.

‼‼SPLM/SPLA (IO) IS NOT A FAMILY OR CLAN ORGANIZATION! 🇸🇸✊

It is disappointing to see some individuals undermine Hon. Oyet Nathaniel’s leadership simply because he does not belong to the Dok community.

Since when did tribal identity become the qualification for leadership in a national political movement? The SPLM/SPLA (IO) was founded on political principles, a shared vision, and the struggle for a better South Sudan—not to serve the interests of one clan or a privileged group.

Those who claim to defend the legacy of Dr. Riek Machar must demonstrate that commitment through unity, fairness, and respect for the movement’s established leadership structures.

No clan is greater than the movement, and no individual or group owns the SPLM/SPLA (IO). Leadership must be guided by principles, not tribal considerations.

The question is simple: Are we building a national political movement, or are we turning it into a family and clan affair?

The movement belongs to all its members. Respect leadership, reject tribal politics, and protect the unity of the SPLM/SPLA (IO)! ✊🇸🇸

‼‼SSPDF and Lakes officials report conflicting death tolls in Rumbek violence

South Sudan’s army and Lakes State officials have reported different death tolls following deadly violence in Rumbek on October 9.

SSPDF spokesperson Maj. Gen. L*l Ruai Koang said military reports indicated about 40 people were killed, including 10 to 11 security personnel. Meanwhile, Rumbek Central County Executive Director Padhil Maker reported 46 deaths and 65 injuries.

The Ministry of Information had earlier announced a preliminary death toll of 71.

The violence involved armed youth from the Pakam and Nyang communities following escalating local clashes and tensions over security and alleged property and cattle theft.

Authorities say the situation has stabilised, with troops deployed to separate the rival groups.
