Meet Akshaya, a Health Sciences student, and Carlos, a PhD student in Education, our International Orientation Assistants!

Meet Cristina, from Ecuador! She is currently completing a Master of Global Health Systems in the Faculty of Health Sciences - Western University.

Cristina is a trained general physician whose studies focus on understanding global health systems and improving equitable access to care around the world. Her goal is to complete her medical residency in Canada and become an orthopedic surgeon.

Before coming to Western, Cristina completed her medical degree at Universidad del Azuay in Ecuador and gained hands-on experience through international exchanges and medical missions.

Meet Anna, from Brazil! She is a third-year student in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies, specializing in Film Studies with a minor in Page, Stage, and Screen.

Anna had always dreamed of studying abroad, and Western stood out to her because the campus is calm, friendly and feels like its own part of the city.

Her advice for new students? “Most students are figuring things out as they go. Join a club, attend events and apply for opportunities even if you’re unsure. You’ll gain confidence through experience.” - Anna
