Congratulations to Ivey's Women in Asset Management program on five years of growth, connection, and impact! 🎉

The Women in Asset Management (WAM) program launched in 2022 to address the problem of not enough women in asset management. Women accounted for just 14 per cent of global fund managers and only six per cent of chief investment officers at the largest U.S. institutional money managers.

Since its launch, WAM has expanded beyond Western University to include students from universities across Canada. The 2026 cohort has 49 students from 11 universities and the program now has approximately 175 alumni building careers across the industry.

Current students, alumni, sponsors, and faculty recently gathered to celebrate the anniversary at Ivey's new Donald K. Johnson Centre in Toronto.

Vietnam is not a market you can fully understand from a classroom alone. It has to be experienced firsthand.

During the 2026 Executive MBA Discovery Expedition, EMBA candidates travelled to Vietnam for a week of business visits, project work, and cultural immersion. The experience challenged the cohort to think differently about leadership and global business while gaining firsthand insight into one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing economies.

In a new reflection piece, Brennan Roy-Bertin, EMBA ’26 candidate, with contributions from fellow EMBA ’26 candidate Emman Price, share how the expedition brought classroom frameworks to life and reshaped their perspective on international growth and leadership.

Congratulations to the 2026-2027 Forté Fellows! 👏

This year, 45 outstanding students were recognized for exemplary leadership, diverse perspectives, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing women in business. It marks Ivey’s largest Forté cohort since joining the Forté Foundation in 2017.

“I want to be the connective thread who helps other women see their potential, access the right resources, and build the confidence to go after what they want. The real power of Forté isn't just what happens during the MBA, it's the network of women who continue to lift each other up throughout their careers.” — Brittney Canning, MBA ’27 candidate

These Fellows embody the Forté Foundation’s mission to create opportunities for women through business education, professional development, and a strong global community. In doing so, they are helping shape the future of leadership.

Supply chains sit at the centre of many sustainability ambitions, yet the systems businesses rely on were never designed with regeneration and long-term resilience in mind.

In the latest episode of Dialogue with the Dean, Dean Julian Birkinshaw is joined by Jury Gualandris, Associate Professor of Operations Management and Sustainability at Ivey and Academic Director of Ivey Centre for Building Sustainable Value, for a conversation on the realities of sustainable supply chains. Drawing on his latest research, Gualandris challenges common assumptions about sustainability and explains why reducing harm may no longer be enough.

The discussion explores the hidden costs of pursuing efficiency at all costs, why businesses need to rethink the way they view waste and resources, and what it takes to build systems that actively regenerate the social and ecological environments they depend on. The episode also highlights insights from Ivey’s Collective Action Program, which works with farmers across Southwestern Ontario to drive meaningful systemic change.

Organizations everywhere are racing to integrate AI into decision-making. But what happens when the values built into AI systems don’t align with the organizations using them?

New research from Ivey’s Joshua Foster and Shannon Rawski explores how AI models make ethical and economic trade-offs, even when explicitly instructed to maximize shareholder profits. Their paper, "Aligning AI Decision-Making with Organizational Values: Synthetic Experiments in a Multi-Stakeholder Utility Framework," found that in some cases, AI systems made decisions that reflected their own embedded ethical reasoning, despite being directed to prioritize financial outcomes.

The research highlights a growing challenge for organizations adopting AI tools. These systems are not neutral, and AI models already contain built-in assumptions, biases, and preferences shaped by their training data that can influence how they reason and make decisions.

The findings ultimately point to a broader challenge for organizations: understanding whether the values guiding their technologies truly reflect the values guiding their businesses.

What will set new graduates apart in an AI-enabled workplace?

At this year’s MBA Get Connected event, more than 250 Ivey alumni joined current MBA students for conversations on careers, networking, and the evolving role of AI in the workplace.

During a featured panel discussion, Ivey’s Mazi Raz moderated a conversation with Ivey AI Fellow Salim Teja, HBA ‘96, partner at Radical Ventures, Ivey AI Fellow Neha Khera, MBA ‘11, managing partner at IRV Fund, Innovobot, and Erik Garcia, senior project manager at Vector Institute on the skills and mindsets needed to succeed in an AI-enabled workplace.

The panelists emphasized that while AI fluency matters, so do the human skills that technology cannot replace. From relationship building to sound judgment, the future of work will belong to those who can combine technical understanding with thoughtful leadership.
