We are incredibly excited to share this revolutionary project, and the impact it seeks to have on children and families across the globe.

Led by Susan Scollie, audiologist and professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences, the project is a grand collaboration between researchers across Western.

A partnership between the National Centre for Audiology at Western University, Faculty of Engineering - Western University, H.A. Leeper Speech and Hearing Clinic, and Boys Town National Research Hospital in Nebraska, ALLEars was made possible by $4.4-million (USD) grant from the Oberkotter Foundation.

Please join us in celebrating this extraordinary achievement!

Last week, our Centre for Research on Health Equity and Social Inclusion (CRHESI) released London’s Health & Homelessness Whole of Community System Response Research & Evaluation Report.

It’s the first evaluation of its kind, offering an evidence-based look at how a community-wide response is making a difference.

Key findings:
- Highly Supportive Housing is delivering results. Residents are healthier, more stable, and using fewer emergency services.
- 24/7 Hubs are changing lives. Over 100 people supported, with 40+ transitions into housing since 2023.
- Direct service staff are the backbone. Their well-being is essential to system success.
- Preventable deaths among people experiencing homelessness are down 20% between 2022 and 2024.

This report shows progress while underscoring the need for sustained investment, strong workforce support, and cross-sector leadership.
