Ten years ago, BrainsCAN began with an ambitious goal: to transform the way we understand the brain.
Today, on our final day, we have the privilege of looking back at what that ambition became.
Over the past decade, thousands of researchers, trainees, staff, collaborators and partners have contributed to BrainsCAN.
To everyone who has been part of BrainsCAN over the past ten years: thank you for believing in what we could build together.
It has been extraordinary. ❤️
Together, we built world-leading research infrastructure, supported new discoveries and technologies, created opportunities for the next generation of researchers, connected disciplines and institutions, and built collaborations around the world.
We challenged ourselves to think differently about representation in neuroscience, how research is supported and how discoveries can create impact.
But numbers and achievements only tell part of the story.
BrainsCAN has always been about people — people coming together around the belief that by combining our expertise, ideas and perspectives, we could achieve more than any of us could alone.
Today marks the end of our CFREF-funded journey, but it does not mark the end of its impact.
The researchers whose careers began here will continue asking new questions.
The technologies and methods developed here will enable new discoveries.
The infrastructure built here will support research for years to come.
The partnerships and friendships formed here will continue.
And the community we created has changed what is possible.
This is our legacy.
