Western's Graduate Geosciences Society organizes social and educational events throughout the year for graduate students and members of the Earth Science department at Western University. The GGS represents the interests of graduate students in the Earth Science department. Members of the GGS executive attend departmental meetings and Western's Society of Graduate Students (SOGS) meetings. The mem

bers of the society are Western graduate students in the Department of Earth Sciences enrolled in Masters of Science (MSc) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs.

Science Rendezvous is a Canada‐wide festival that takes science out of the lab and onto the streets. The Executive Committee is currently recruiting graduate students to join the Organizing Committees to assist in the planning of the event, which will be held on May 11, 2019.

The SOGS office has completed its move into Middlesex College Rm. 8, so it is no longer located in the UCC. They are inviting all grad students to stop by for pie and coffee next Wednesday, March 14th from 12-2 pm to celebrate "Pi day"!

Entries should showcase Canada’s varied scenery from a geological perspective or spectacular geological features (e.g. outcrops, fossils, thin sections, minerals). Winners will also be featured in an upcoming edition of GEOLOG.
