Here is an opportunity for Indigenous PhD students!

Pre-Doctoral Fellowships for Indigenous Students – Application Deadline March 31
The Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s University is accepting applications for one-year Pre-Doctoral Fellowships for Indigenous Students.

The Pre-Doctoral Fellowships are open to students working on doctoral research in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences or natural and physical sciences at an accredited university other than Queen’s.

Candidates must have completed all doctoral degree requirements except the final doctoral project (e.g., dissertation). They will be expected to compete their doctoral project during their tenure as a Fellow to receive their degree from their home institution.
The Fellowship holder is required to relocate to Kingston while completing their research to teach one course in the Faculty of Arts and Science and contribute to intellectual life at Queen's University. The program supports the intellectual and scholarly development of senior doctoral candidates in ways that position them for success. It provides an opportunity for students to gain research and teaching experience at a different university and it provides a competitive advantage for academic and non-academic jobs after graduation. The award includes a $37,000 annual stipend, as well as wages for teaching one class, and funds for relocation, research & conferences.

The application deadline is March 31, 2026, and the Fellowships start in September 2026. Prospective fellows can learn more in our upcoming webinars on March 3 and March 9, which will include a short 15-minute presentation followed by a 45-minute Q & A period.

Opportunities like this don’t always find us — so we make sure they’re shared.

The Biochemistry & Biomedical Sciences Summer Scholars Program (SSP) at McMaster is a fully funded, paid summer research experience designed to expand access to STEM and remove barriers that have historically kept students out of labs.

Over 12 weeks, scholars begin with a hands-on skills bootcamp and transition into real lab placements, gaining confidence, community, and meaningful research experience along the way.
No prior research experience required — just curiosity, commitment, and passion.

If you’re an Ontario STEM student who identifies as Black, Indigenous, and/or 2SLGBTQIA+, this opportunity was built with you in mind.

Applications are now open.
