From first-day nerves to first-day excitement 🤩

Starting college is a big milestone, and for many students, the day begins with a mix of anticipation, excitement, and uncertainty.

At New Student Orientation, students connected with classmates, met faculty and staff, explored campus services, and were guided by our incredible Student Ambassadors. Through program orientations, games, great food, live music, and meaningful conversations, students began building confidence and finding their place in the MHC community.

We're proud to welcome our newest students and grateful to everyone who helped make their first day a memorable one.

The rooms are filling up, the hallways are buzzing, and a new year of memories is about to begin. Whether you're moving in for the very first time or returning to familiar faces and favorite spaces, we're so excited to have you here!

As you settle in, meet new friends, and make yourself at home, know that we're excited to be part of your residence journey this year.

And to the families who helped with move-in: thank you for carrying boxes, making beds, and offering a helping hand every step of the way. We hope you enjoy the quieter mornings, a little extra space in the fridge, and not having to ask whose laundry is in the dryer quite as often. 😉

Preparing for a year of student success ⭐️

Employees from across Medicine Hat College and the Medicine Hat College Brooks Campus came together for our annual College Day, taking time to learn, connect, collaborate, and prepare for the year ahead.

Every conversation, idea, and planning session was focused on one thing: creating the best possible experience for our students.

We were also honoured to welcome keynote speaker Stuart Young, who shared his inspiring journey of self-discovery, family, and community. Reflecting on the role Medicine Hat College played in his path, Stuart reminded us of the lasting impact that education, support, and a sense of belonging can have on a person's life.

As we get ready to welcome students back to campus, we're excited for the opportunities, challenges, discoveries, and achievements that the new academic year will bring.

And, of course, no College Day would be complete without ending the day with a very serious and highly competitive game of bingo. 😆

We can't wait to see our halls buzzing with energy again!

From canine studies to marine life 🦮➡️🐠

MHC alumna Megan Jingling's career journey is a reminder that education is about more than preparing for one job.

The communication, training, and public engagement skills she developed in MHC's Service Dog & Canine Studies Management program helped lead her to a career educating visitors about marine animals at West Edmonton Mall’s Marine Life attraction.

As Canada's only post-secondary institution offering a diploma of this kind, MHC continues to prepare students for a wide range of animal-related careers.
