ICCIT Council

ICCIT Council ICCIT Council is the official academic society representative of the ICCIT student body at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Who are ICCIT programs for?

The ICCIT Council (formerly CCIT Council) is an academic society at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Our purpose is to serve the interests of the ICCIT student body. Whether it is through an Adobe workshop, a semi-formal, or a networking event, we are dedicated to ICCIT students academically, socially and professionally. The Institute of Communication, Culture and Information Technology (ICC

IT) at the University of Toronto Mississauga offers interdisciplinary programs that will produce communication and management professionals energized by the challenges of the wired world. Our undergraduate joint programs of study combine the academic research strength and international prestige of the University of Toronto with the professional orientation and world-wide media reputation of the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. The CCIT Major program focuses on the study of the art and science of human communication, how communication builds knowledge and creates culture, and how information technology affects the way humans communicate. Students will use critical thinking, a breadth of knowledge and expression, and the full range of information technology tools to solve problems and create reflective content. The Digital Enterprise Management (DEM) Specialist program prepares graduates for management roles in the digital age by developing a working knowledge of emerging technologies and broad exposure to the management disciplines. Students will gain an understanding of the technologies that underlie digital businesses and the managerial challenges and techniques appropriate for being active and valuable participants in digital enterprises. The Professional Writing and Communication (PWC) programs, housed solely at the University of Toronto Mississauga, explore the way communication works in professional, academic, artistic, personal and public settings. Program courses cultivate flexible, reflective writers/editors in small, interactive classes and students consider how the principles of rhetoric and language operate and ways to apply these principles in their own writing and editing. PWC encourages students to develop writing portfolios and to publish work they produce in their courses. Many PWC students go on to work as professional writers and editors. ICCIT programs are for students interested in being leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators in environments that require strategic teamwork, adaptability, intercultural mediation, collaborative project management, design theory and practice, and a sophisticated understanding of inter-personal issues.
