Last week, our 2025-2026 President Marie Febro had the privilege of attending the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) Conference in Mississauga, Ontario.

Alongside Sheena Doyle, President of the McGill Graduate Students’ Society, they presented on an innovative collage-based activity designed to support nursing students in exploring their professional identity through an intersectional social justice lens. The presentation highlighted how arts-based approaches can foster reflection, dialogue, advocacy, and a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences that shape nursing practice.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with nursing educators, researchers, students, and leaders from across Canada. The conference offered valuable learning experiences, including insightful presentations on addressing anti-Black racism in nursing and healthcare. We look forward to bringing these insights back to our McGill community and continuing to advance equity, inclusion, and social justice in nursing education.

A special thank you to Professor Anne-Laurie Beaubrun, whose master’s research inspired the collage activity presented at the conference. As the closing keynote speaker at CASN, she shared powerful insights on equity, inclusion, and social justice in nursing, making it especially meaningful to see the impact of her work firsthand.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance (CBNA) and the McGill Nursing Undergraduate Society (NUS) for their generous financial support, which helped make this opportunity possible.
