A workshop on Identity, Belonging and Agency with Yabome Gilpin-Jackson, PhD.

Who am I?
Where do I belong?
What am I called to?

Three questions that form the bases of the IBA ( / / ) developmental framework informed by Yabome's practice of using lived experience in creative writing. The framework is embedded in the core themes of the short story and flash fiction collections (Black identity politics/dynamics), (belonging & rootedness) and (agency). Yabome’s own lived experience and readings from the collections will be interspersed with activities that invite participants to explore the questions Who am I? Where do I belong? What am I called to?

Let's unpack how our identities and anchoring to places and spaces of belonging grounds us and our choice to exercise agency moves us towards whatever we are called and destined to be and do.
