Dès le 28 novembre, découvrez l'excellent film EO de Jerzy Skolimowski, à la Cinémathèque québécoise!

Le long métrage mettant en vedette Sandra Drzymalska, Lorenzo Zurzolo, Mateusz Kościukiewicz et Isabelle Huppert, a remporté le prix du jury au Festival de Cannes 2022.

On October 7 in 1943 in the Soviet Gulag, a great artist, theater and film actor, dancer, singer, director and screenwriter, one of the great symbols of culture of the inter-war Poland 🇵🇱 - Eugeniusz Bodo died of exhaustion and hunger.

He was a film director, producer and one of the most popular Polish actors and comedians of the inter-war period. He starred in some of the most popular Polish film productions of the 1930s, including His Excellency, The Shop Assistant (Polish: Jego ekscelencja subiekt), Czy Lucyna to dziewczyna? and Pieśniarz Warszawy. A skilled singer, he became one of the icons of Polish musical comedies of the time and a "symbol of Polish commercial cinema". Towards the end of that decade he also became a successful entrepreneur, a co-owner of a successful film studio, a café and a producers company. Arrested by the Soviets in the aftermath of the German and Soviet invasion of Poland, he perished in the Gulag.

, on January 17, 1918, a ski sports champion, model, a Tatra courier, a soldier of the Union of Armed Struggle and Home Army, Helena Marusarzówna was born. 🇵🇱

In the years 1936-1939 she was the best Polish ski competitor. A seven-time Polish champion in alpine competitions (downhill, slalom and combination).

From September 1939, she participated in the Polish resistance, acting as a secret courier from October, carrying mail and leading people along the mountain trail. She was among the Tatra couriers who carried secret documents and took people to Slovakia and further to Hungary.

In March 1940, Helena was captured by the Slovak military police and handed over to the Gestapo. She spent a year on death row. Tortured many times, she did not reveal any secret information or any of her companions, however, the Gestapo found a letter in Hungarian in her luggage and after many months they associated it with the person of Stefania Hanauskówna.

On September 12, 1941, Helena Marusarzówna was shot in Pogórska Wola near Tarnów.

Her brother was Stanisław Marusarz, ski jumper and second lieutenant of the Home Army. He passed away in 1993.
