Congrats to Liam for winning this Alaskan award!
Liam Dooley is a 26-year-old baritone born and raised in Eagle River, Alaska. In Fall 2026, he will begin the second year of his Master’s of Music in Voice and Opera at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal, where he is a student of Brett Polegato and Patrick Hansen. Liam attended the School of Performing Arts at Holland College in Prince Edward Island, the Music Entertainment Industry Studies Program at the University of Colorado Denver, and the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Performance in Voice.
Liam got his start in music as a percussionist in concert band at Mirror Lake Middle School under the direction of Travis Harrington, before moving to high school and becoming involved with Chugiak High School Swing Choir, directed by Ron Lange. During this time, Liam began singing in NATS Competitions and Anchorage Concert Chorus Competitions while studying with Christine Keene at Solstice Vocal Arts. When Liam was 16, he performed in his first opera, Rigoletto by Verdi, as a chorus member with Anchorage Opera.
Liam is a multidisciplinary artist, performing operatic works, art song, jazz, and folk music. In Opera McGill’s 2026 performances, Liam debuted the roles of Tarquinius in The R**e of Lucretia by Benjamin Britten and Melisso in Alcina by Handel. Liam recently debuted the roles of Spinelloccio and Ser Amantio di Nicolao in Gianni Schicchi as part of the Portfolio Artist Internship Program with Opera 5 in Toronto. He was also recently a featured baritone soloist in Montreal Summer Choral Academy’s performance of Carl Orff’s legendary work, Carmina Burana. This fall, Liam will debut the principal role of Hawkins Fuller in Greg Pierce’s contemporary opera Fellow Travelers. His career goals are to perform at opera houses in North America and abroad, and to represent Alaska in the opera industry.
