THE MCGILL AFRICAN FIELD STUDY SEMESTER PROGRAM

The McGill African Field Study Semester program is seeking two (2) interested candidates who would like to experience an educational opportunity of a lifetime!

These individuals will accompany our group to East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) from early January to the end of March 2024. They will be expected to act as a bridge between students and staff/instructors as well as ensure that everything is running smoothly for all parties involved.

The first candidate we are looking for is someone who has experience in community and team building, leadership, management, problem-solving, critical thinking, cross-cultural issues, conflict resolution, and group management skills. These roles present challenges, and the individuals we are seeking must be team-oriented, adaptable, flexible, and be able to adjust to changing environments.

We are also looking for someone who will help mitigate risk to students by conducting field site analysis, rule setting and compliance. Their role will be to advise students, instructors and staff of potential risks and their mitigation. This candidate should be highly adaptable and be able to think and act quickly and appropriately in case of emergency.

The selected candidates will have an all-expense paid trip during the 3 months on the field (vaccinations, insurance, airfare, local transport, food and lodging) and will get a $7,680 remuneration. This package is valued at approximately $30,000.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please send your resume and a cover letter with a brief explanation detailing your interest for these roles at [email protected] before September 2, 2023. look forward to receiving your application!
