Description: The Concordia Student Union (CSU) is currently seeking an undergraduate or graduate student to fill the position of Advocacy Administrative Assistant at the CSU Advocacy Centre. Reporting to the Advocacy Centre Manager, the Administrative Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the center. The incumbent will be required to deal with individuals under stress and in crisis.

This is a temporary position with full days on Mondays & Wednesdays, and partial days on Tuesdays.

📈 Over the past five plus (5+) years, the CSU Advocacy Centre has seen a rise in cases that support students in their academic needs & concerns, most notably the biggest jump in the last year. To keep up with this demand, CSU members voted yes for a fee-levy increase 2024 CSU By-Election and now we’re proposing a fee levy increase to GSA members from $3.32 to $5 per semester, starting Fall 2025.
 
📕 This increase will allow us to expand our support hours & improve accessibility as cases continue to rise, especially for complex ones like discrimination, complaints, and retaliation.
 
💬 Vote YES if you believe in supporting an essential service that helps you know your rights & options. Navigating the many university policies, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution should be easy and accessible to all.

The CSU Advocacy Centre is seeing a significant rise in cases every year. To keep up with demand, we’re proposing a small fee levy increase from $3 to $4 per semester for graduate students, starting Winter 2025.
This $1 increase will allow us to expand our support hours and improve accessibility, especially for complex grad student cases, including help with immigration, academic issues, and more.

CSU Advocacy is hiring undergraduate students for the position of Student Advocacy Assistant (Student Advocate).
The Student Advocate will represent students in academic disciplinary meetings, Code of Rights and Responsibilities complaints, and help students in academic-related difficulties.

They must have strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of Concordia's academic codes is essential.

Fluency in French, Mandarin, or Persian is a valuable asset, as is experience in extracurricular activities and relevant training.

Applicants must be full-time Concordia students in good standing. The position is part-time, on-campus, and requires in-person training. The application deadline and interview dates are specified in the description. Internal candidates have preference.
