Our story

The first Art Hive at McGill University was initiated in September 2015 by and within the Faculty of Education. Maria Ezcurra (Artist in Residence in the Faculty of Education), created the inaugural Hive in the Faculty’s former library stacks, then slated for renovation. Since that time, the Art Hive has become an important and vibrant space in the Faculty. Acknowledging the enthusiasm generated by the Art Hive, the Faculty has worked to ensure its sustainability, particularly through our Artist in Residence program. While initially Art Hive participants were primarily from the Faculty of Education - students, Faculty, and staff members - the Art Hive is now generating interest from across the University.
