Biomedical engineering is a very broad, interdisciplinary field that involves the application of engineering, the physical sciences and computer science to medicine and the life sciences. We were among the first to establish a biomedical-engineering programme in North America, and one of the most research intensive ones. Our department is in the Faculty of Medicine, and we have one of the largest

graduate programmes with a wide range of unique research themes and facilities. We maintain close collaborations with many colleagues in the Faculties of Engineering and Science, and collaborate with clinicians and many researchers both locally and internationally.
