🚀Why did entrepreneur, investor and astronaut Mark Pathy choose Concordia University to help shape Canada’s space future?
In this new video, Pathy says he partnered with the university to lead in talent development, research and collaboration with industry and government.

👏 His transformative $15-million gift created the Mark Pathy Space Institute at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science to strengthen Montreal's, Quebec's and Canada’s place in the global space economy.

From Montreal to the Netherlands, Italy and Japan, PhD candidate Guillaume Ndjamba Nyami, M.Sc.A, Jr. Eng., is making his mark in antenna engineering and wireless communications.

Earlier this year, Guillaume received a Canadian Space Agency grant to attend a ESA - European Space Agency and European School of Antennas course on antennas for satellite applications in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. The course brought together researchers and engineers to examine advances in satellite antenna design and emerging space technologies.

The opportunity builds on two international achievements from 2024: an IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Student Travel Grant to present his research in Florence, Italy and an Honourable Mention Award at the IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology in Sendai, Japan.

Guillaume conducts his research under Gina Cody School Professor Ahmed Kishk in our Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Three student-led startups received $20,000 awards to help bring their technologies closer to market at the Gina Cody School Innovation Fund Demo Day.

AEGIS, MiSC Robotics and HarV were recognized for solutions ranging from cybersecurity training and robotics to manufacturing knowledge systems. The awards will support the next phase of development, mentorship and commercialization for each team.

Congratulations to all six teams that pitched their ideas and showcased the creativity, technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit of our student community.

Trois jeunes entreprises étudiantes ont reçu un prix de 20 000 $ pour les aider à rapprocher leurs technologies du marché lors de la Journée Démo du Fonds d’innovation de l’École de génie et d’informatique Gina-Cody.

AEGIS, MiSC Robotics et HarV ont été récompensées pour des solutions allant de la formation en cybersécurité à la robotique, en passant par les systèmes de gestion des connaissances en fabrication. Ces prix soutiendront la prochaine phase de développement, de mentorat et de commercialisation de chaque projet.

Meet Luqman Hakim, one of two valedictorians for the Gina Cody School's spring 2026 convocation.

A Concordia University Aerospace Engineering graduate, Luqman combined academic excellence with leadership, teaching and hands-on industry experience throughout his time at Concordia. He served as a teaching assistant for Multivariable Calculus and Ordinary Differential Equations, completed data science internships and led ENGCOMM as president.

In high school, Luqman was told he was not suited for advanced mathematics. Years later, he found himself teaching those same subjects to engineering students at Concordia.

Reflecting on his journey, he writes:
“Turning the very subjects that once defined my insecurity into the ones I taught to hundreds of Concordia students remains the achievement I am most proud of.”

Congratulations, Luqman, and best wishes as you begin your next chapter.

Rencontrez Luqman Hakim, l’un des deux porte-parole de promotion de l’École de génie et d’informatique Gina-Cody pour la collation des grades du printemps 2026.

Diplômé en génie aérospatial, Luqman a su conjuguer excellence académique, leadership, enseignement et expérience pratique en industrie tout au long de son parcours à Concordia. Il a été auxiliaire d’enseignement pour les cours de calcul multivariable et d’équations différentielles ordinaires, a réalisé des stages en science des données et a présidé ENGCOMM.

Au secondaire, on lui avait dit qu’il n’était pas fait pour les mathématiques avancées. Quelques années plus t**d, il enseignait ces mêmes matières à des étudiants en génie à Concordia.

En repensant à son parcours, il écrit :

« Avoir transformé les matières qui représentaient autrefois ma plus grande source d’insécurité en celles que j’ai enseignées à des centaines d’étudiants de Concordia demeure l’accomplissement dont je suis le plus fier. »

Meet Seif Bedair, one of two valedictorians for the Gina Cody School's spring 2026 convocation.

A Concordia University Computer Engineering graduate, Seif served as president of the Engineering and Computer Science Association, represented students in Senate and worked as a teaching assistant while completing his degree.

Many members of the Class of 2026 began their studies during the COVID-19 pandemic or in its immediate aftermath, when student life, clubs and campus activities were still finding their footing again. In his valedictorian address, Seif plans to reflect on how students helped rebuild that sense of community.

“We did not wait for the environment to be perfect before we invested in it. We rebuilt it together, and we leave this institution in a measurably better place than we found it.”

Congratulations, Seif, and best wishes as you begin your next chapter.

Rencontrez Seif Bedair, l’un des deux porte-parole de promotion de l’École de génie et d’informatique Gina-Cody pour la collation des grades du printemps 2026.

Diplômé en génie informatique, Seif a occupé les fonctions de président de l’Association des étudiants en génie et en informatique, a représenté la communauté étudiante au Sénat et a travaillé comme auxiliaire d’enseignement tout au long de ses études.

De nombreux membres de la cohorte 2026 ont commencé leur parcours universitaire pendant la pandémie de COVID-19 ou dans les mois qui ont suivi, alors que la vie étudiante, les associations et les activités sur le campus reprenaient progressivement leur élan. Dans son allocution au nom des diplômés, Seif reviendra sur la façon dont les étudiants ont contribué à rebâtir ce sentiment d’appartenance à la communauté.

« Nous n’avons pas attendu que les conditions soient parfaites pour nous investir. Nous avons reconstruit cette communauté ensemble et nous laissons cette institution dans un meilleur état que celui dans lequel nous l’avons trouvée. »
