Hi everyone!

The History Department is looking for 5 non-graduating people to help with the graduation celebration in Birks Foyer this Tuesday, June 6th with times ranging from 9 AM to 4 PM. We will need help setting up food and drinks as well as clean up!

On Monday (30 Jan.), undergraduate students are invited to attend a teaching demonstration – the subject, “The New Deal” – from 1:00 to 2:00pm, also in LEA 738.

As well, on Friday (3 Feb.), the subject will be “Politics and Belonging in the 1920s.”

Historical Discourses, the History Undergraduate Journal, is currently hiring Editors for the 2022-23 publication!

Preference for History honours/majors/minors but applicants with significant history experience are also encouraged to apply. A few spots are reserved for younger students, so U1's and U2's may apply as well!

Editors will be working alongside each other to select, review, and edit history paper submissions, as well as give feedback on the design and direction of the journal. Applicants with graphic design experience should highlight this in their application. In addition to historical research experience, applicants should also enjoy working in a team and have great research and writing skills.

Applicants are asked to answer the following questions as well as upload their CV and a history writing sample (max.5 pages) below.

Historical Discourses, McGill’s History Undergraduate Journal is currently looking for essay submissions to be published in the 2022-23 edition! We are looking for undergraduate papers with a historical focus to be academically published in our 37th edition.

Interested Applicants should follow these guidelines:

• Papers must be written by an undergraduate student currently enrolled at McGill
• Papers must be between 10 and 20 pages in length
• Papers must be from a 300-level course (or higher), and must have received an original grade of A- or A
• We will accept papers from non-HIST and CLAS courses, so long as their subjects are historical
• Papers with substantial primary source research will be privileged

We are now looking to fill the position of Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of Historical Discourses, the undergraduate journal of the McGill History Department, for the 2022-23 academic year. If selected, you would lead the production and publication of Volume 37 of Historical Discourses.

To qualify for this position, you must:
- Be currently pursuing an Honours, Major, or Minor concentration in History at McGill.
- Have already completed at least two years of study in McGill History.

The deadline to submit is January 13th, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST.

We’re looking for up to three knowledgeable, motivated, and academically engaged undergrads to offer academic support to students in history courses. This is a paid position ($15/hour), and each tutor will provide 1-3 hours of tutoring per week.

The History Students' Association is looking for a First Year Rep! We are looking for a U1 History student in their first year at McGill, or a U0 student taking at least one HIST course and is seriously considering becoming a History major.

This is a great way to get involved in the HSA and meet other History students but with less commitment than an executive position during the transition into university. It's a flexible position that allows for insight into the department, students' association, and various executive functions.

The responsibilities include promoting HSA events and initiatives to other first year students, attending weekly meetings, liaising between first years and the executive, and helping out with various executive portfolios as desired or needed.
