The Office of Sustainability's mission is to create a culture of sustainability at McGill - to encourage and unite the efforts of students, faculty, staff and administrators to incorporate principles of sustainability in university operations, campus living and learning and in its relations with the broader community. We explore ways in which McGill can integrate social, environmental and economic considerations to provide input to the University decisions, and develop partnerships that encourage and facilitate the cooperation of all members of the McGill community in applying the principles of sustainability. The 2026 BioBlitz was a huge success thanks to all of you! We had a noted increase in all areas - observations, species, identifiers, and observers.

Triple the amount of participants from last year, 1494 observations (more than double of last year), and 19x more observations coming for Mac Campus this year!

We’re hiring! Are you looking to use your communications expertise to drive meaningful impact in sustainability? McGill University is looking for a Communications Officer to lead and implement a communications strategy that supports its climate and sustainability initiatives.

In this hybrid role based in Montréal, you will develop compelling narratives, manage day-to-day social media channels, and produce engaging content to promote the work of the McGill Office of Sustainability, helping drive meaningful engagement across campus. This is a fixed-term, one-year position.
