The Office of Sustainability's mission is to create a culture of sustainability at McGill - to encourage and unite the efforts of students, faculty, staff and administrators to incorporate principles of sustainability in university operations, campus living and learning and in its relations with the broader community. It’s almost that time of year again — when we get to celebrate nature across McGill’s campuses!

Join us for the 2026 Biodiversity Festival and explore nature with guided walks led by experts, spot and document local species, and connect with environmental groups.

Festival events will take place at Downtown Campus (Sept 22), Macdonald Campus (Sept 24) and the Gault Nature Reserve (Sept 26)!

Did you know McGill has six bike repair stations across campus? 

Check out their locations and find tips on how to use them on the Biking Resources Hub (mcgill.ca/biking), or at the link in bio.

Meet Juniper (Haotong) Fu, our new SSMU rep on the SPF Governance Council!

Juniper is a Joint Honours Economics and Finance student at McGill, originally from Beijing. She’s passionate about the intersection of sustainability, economics, and social impact, particularly how institutions and incentives can drive long-term environmental change.

She’s a Fellow in McGill’s Integrated Management Student Fellowship (IMSF) Research & Impact Stream, where students collaborate with professors on research tied to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As a member of the SPF Governance Council, Juniper hopes to bring thoughtful, balanced perspectives to support impactful, practical, and student-oriented sustainability initiatives across campus.

We’re hiring! Are you looking to use your communications expertise to drive meaningful impact in sustainability? McGill University is looking for a Communications Officer to lead and implement a communications strategy that supports its climate and sustainability initiatives.

In this hybrid role based in Montréal, you will develop compelling narratives, manage day-to-day social media channels, and produce engaging content to promote the work of the McGill Office of Sustainability, helping drive meaningful engagement across campus. This is a fixed-term, one-year position.
