Our aim is to enhance the experiences of students interested in a career in medicine so that they can make an informed and educated decision.

Medical Direction (MD) is a service of the Science Undergraduate Society (SUS) and serves as the official pre-medical society of McGill University, supported by the Faculty of Science. MD offers a shadowing program with health care professionals and current medical students, informative speaker events, academic seminars, and various social networking opportunities (wine and cheese socials with med students, group volunteer activities, charity events, etc.). We work in collaboration with the ICU Bridge Program: https://www.facebook.com/ICUbridgeprogram/

✨Ending the semester on a high note!✨

Shoutout to our members who made it to our last team social of the year. Everyone brought their best bowling skills to the function, and we racked up the spares, the strikes, and the fun! 🎳

Your ECs don’t need to look like everyone else’s.

Admissions committees aren’t looking for a checklist. They want to see that you actually care about what you do. If you worked a part time job instead of volunteering, that’s not a weakness. It’s your story.

🥂Event Recap!🥂

Our w**e and cheese medical professions mixer was a great success! We were grateful to have six wonderful medical professionals speak about their career paths and life lessons, and to enjoy the most beautiful charcuterie boards (made by our president!) while mingling with our speakers and other med-oriented students.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and to our speakers for the incredibly valuable and insightful presentations!

Couldn’t make it this time? Don’t worry, we still have a few more events and pre-med opportunities coming your way this semester… so keep an eye out for those!

Medical Professions Mixer Recap!

Our Medical Professions Mixer brought together undergraduate students and healthcare professionals for an evening of open conversation, mentorship, and connection. The turnout and energy in the room truly exceeded expectations!

We were so encouraged to see such strong engagement from students, thoughtful questions throughout the talks, and genuine curiosity during the networking portion. We hope everyone who attended walked away having learned something new and made meaningful, insightful connections - whether with one of our speakers, your fellow peers, or members of the Medical Direction executive team.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of our Medical Direction exec team. From weeks of planning to thoughtful attention to every detail during the event, their collaboration and dedication helped create a welcoming and impactful space for conversation and learning.

A huge thank you as well to our speakers for joining us and for sharing such candid and unique perspectives on careers in healthcare. Hearing about diverse training paths, evolving interests, and real experiences across clinical medicine, research, industry, and innovation sparked important conversations and left a lasting impression on our students.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this evening such a success. Creating accessible opportunities for mentorship, exposure, and dialogue is at the heart of what we do and this night was a reminder of why it matters.

Meet our Speakers for the Medical Professions Mixer 2026!

If you’ve been following along but haven’t grabbed your ticket yet, this is your sign.

As undergraduates thinking about medical school, graduate studies, research, or careers in healthcare, it’s easy to feel like everything beyond exams and deadlines is impossibly far away. But hearing directly from people who once sat where you’re sitting, and who are now living these careers, can make the light at the end of the tunnel feel a whole lot closer.

At the Medical Professions Mixer, you’ll hear real, unfiltered stories about pathways into medicine, research, and healthcare, what day-to-day life actually looks like in these fields, and how non-linear journeys can still lead to fulfilling careers. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to ask questions one-on-one, connect personally with our speakers, and gain insight you won’t find in lectures or textbooks.

Who knows what conversations, connections, or opportunities might come from simply showing up?

🎟️ Tickets are limited and selling fast, be sure to secure yours before we sell out.
Don’t miss your chance to be inspired, ask real questions, and see what’s possible.
