The School of Population and Global Health is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Paul Farmer Award for Global Health Equity, established to honour the legacy of Paul Farmer. The award recognizes an individual or couple whose work reflects Dr. Farmer’s vision of a “preferential option for the poor” and advances health equity in underserved communities.

Nominations of exceptional practitioners from across the globe, particularly from the Global South, whose impactful work is often unrecognized, are sought. The awardee will receive a $5,000 CAD honorarium and deliver a special lecture at McGill University, with travel expenses covered.

Please help share this widely and nominate people doing outstanding work to improve health equity!

Nomination deadline: Friday, June 12, 2026

Diagnosis remains one of the biggest gaps in the TB cascade of care. We need better diagnostic tools and high-quality studies to evaluate new tests and develop evidence-based policies that improve TB detection and treatment.

This advanced course explores TB diagnostics research and implementation, covering the pipeline of innovations, critical pathways for new tests, their impact on clinical decision-making and treatment choices, cost-effectiveness in routine program settings, and effects on patient-important outcomes.
