🚐 26 international students were treated to the third edition of the Career Management Services Toronto Networking Trip from May 13 to 15.

This experience is made possible thanks to a generous gift from Scotiabank.

Students visited leading companies like EY, Mackenzie Investments and AlayaCare and connected with representatives from Sobeys, P&G, Telus and CIBC.

One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to Scotiabank. There, students toured the Trading Tower and learned about various programs from the Scotia on Campus team. They finished the day with networking and left with a deeper understanding of the workings of a major financial institution and the diverse career paths available within the organization.

Another highlight was the international student alumni networking cocktail, where students met with over three dozen John Molson School alumni in Toronto.

The event showcased the strong network of John Molson School graduates making significant contributions in various industries in Toronto.

We are grateful for the enthusiastic support from our alumni and partners in Toronto, especially Maria Mangiocavallo, now retired from Scotiabank, and the incredible Scotiabank team along with Tasnim Shariff, Alyshah Mamdani-Pradhan, Melissa Dalmacio, Zilan Kocahal, Stefhaniye Gandhinathan and Paul Nguyen for making this trip an impactful experience for our students.

We also want to thank Andrea Bolger (MBA 86), Jonathan Berke (MBA 09), Jessenia Rahman (EY), Justin Michitsch (AlayaCare), Andrea Torraville (Sobey’s), Roxane Dreyer (Mackenzie Investments), Justin Ahmed Seif Hussein (BComm 09), Clara Boucher (BComm 25), Abdallah Balaa (MBA 10) and Lorenze Dsouza (MBA 23) for sharing their time, advice and experiences with our students throughout the trip.

The success of this trip has reinforced our commitment to providing similar opportunities in the future. We look forward to bringing another group of students to Toronto next year!

Congratulations to the Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program Class of 2025! The cohort was celebrated on May 4, marking the successful completion of the 2-year program that gives a select group of students the chance to work with a real-life portfolio worth over $6.4 million.

"Competition for roles in capital markets is intense, yet every member of this year’s cohort secured either an internship or a full-time position upon completing the program – an outcome that speaks to both their ability and their character," says Program Director Sergey Gelman.

"One graduate has moved to New York to join the private equity firm Ardian full-time, while six others remain in Montreal, taking on internships in pension funds, investment banking, public and private equity investment – with PSP Investments, National Bank Capital Markets, PineStone Asset Management, Novacap, and Pembroke. The students approach this next stage with confidence and optimism, having built a strong record of achievement over the past year as fund managers and having laid a solid foundation for promising careers in capital markets."

Bravo!

Benjamin Thomas (BComm, Finance) noticed his friends were struggling to save money and some were having problems with online gambling.

So he teamed up with two students from McGill to create Lodavo, a startup that launched a prize-linked savings app they hope will change their peers’ relationship with money.

Thomas had learned about prize-linked savings accounts during his first year at Concordia. The accounts introduce an element of gamification to motivate users.

The idea behind Lovado is simple: blend the goal to save money with the chance to win prizes. Sign up for free, securely connect an existing bank account, and save money each week. No minimum balance is required, so the platform is accessible to anyone who signs up.
