Call for submissions!
Plumose, a new Canadian digital writing and reading platform dedicated to short stories written by and for diverse communities, from around the world, are about to launch and are seeking your assistance in spreading the word.
It is well-known that authors from BIR (black, indigenous, and racialized) communities continue to face tremendous barriers to accessing publishing opportunities, receiving editorial support and a fair opportunity to spread their stories and work to audiences around the globe. In turn, BIR stories do not receive the attention, acknowledgement and platform that they deserve.
Plumose is working to reverse that narrative and fill in these key gaps. They are a platform that exclusively amplifies the rich talent and stories of Black, Indigenous and racialized authors to bring these voices to the forefront of literature. They are committed to presenting diverse stories to their global readers and create content that is reflective of the experiences and talents of these communities.
As a young company, they are collecting their first cohort of stories for their web platform. They are seeking original short stories (approximately 5,000 to 10,000 words) by authors who identify as Black, Indigenous or racialized. All authors will receive copy-editing and marketing support, and are eligible to receive variable compensation (conditions apply).
Short story submissions for this round will close on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
Interested authors may send their submissions directly at [email protected] or on their website at www.plumose.co/submit. For questions, please do not hesitate to reach them at [email protected].
