The Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology is proud to present the McGill Summer Institute of School Psychology (SISP). The goal of this annual conference is to offer a high quality professional development experience for school psychologists across North America. The two-day conference will include a series of workshops presented by renowned scholars from Canada and the United States

SISP will be holding its annual conference on May 29th - 30th.

If you have been working on an undergraduate/master/doctorate thesis, a research project, or even volunteering on a project related to psychology or education (English & French) - COME SHOWCASE YOUR WORK!

This is a great opportunity to connect with others, gain valuable feedback, and build your CV! All accepted submissions will be automatically considered for an award (Poster, Fast 5 presentation).

Students who are presenting can attend the conference for free and participate in our CPA and OPQ accredited workshops!!

This week, Dr. Sandy Jung joins us to discuss the assessment and prevention of risk for perpetration of s*xual violence and abuse. Dr. Jung is a professor and associate dean of research in psychology at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. Her research in forensic psychology focuses on the prevention of s*xual assault, child s*x exploration and IPV. Dr. Jung frequently collaborates with law enforcement professionals and other scholars around the world. Dr. Jung discusses the value of believing victims of s*xual violence, guiding perpetrators to lead prosocial lives to reduce reoffending, evidence-based frameworks for risk assessment, validation of tools to assess risk in specific environments, and more.

Content warning: discussion of s*xual assault, gender-based violence and related topics.

SAVE THE DATE!

The SISP Virtual Conference coming in May 2025!

The SISP virtual conference will be taking place on May 29th and 30th. This year we will have speakers presenting on s*xual violence assessments and music & autism, student presentations, and more to come!

Keep your eyes out as we will be releasing our 2025 speakers shortly!! We will also be sharing more information about how to apply for student presentations and how to register for the conference.

We are looking forward to our conference this year and hope to see you there!!
