The official page for Vancouver Island University Student Housing! Our facilities house over 500 students on VIU’s Nanaimo campus each year.

Residents come to our community from across Canada and the world, each bringing different life experiences and perspectives to VIU. This is what makes living in a student housing community so interesting and dynamic. Residents abide by the guidelines of our Community Standards Handbook, so we can create a respectful, enjoyable, and safe experience for every student and staff member. The VIU Commun

ity Life Program is supported by a 24-hour front desk staff, two professional staff members, 17 Community Leaders and 2 Senior Community Leaders. Your Community Leader will probably be the first person you meet on campus. These dedicated upper-year student leaders plan programming and build community in every area of housing. These programs are in support of "Community Life" and creating a positive community spaces on housing. There are many staff members that contribute to the quality of life in housing.

What’s better than celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? Celebrating it with poutine!! Come through to Poutine Palooza on March 17 from 4-7 PM outside Cedar Centre for free poutine, drinks, and snacks. Grab a plate and enjoy some good food and good vibes with Student Housing.

Did somebody say dance? The Evening Island Social is back, and we’ve got none other than spinning tracks for us.

Join us in the upper cafeteria on February 7th for a full-on dance party. Expect mocktails (with optional edible glitter!), snacks, and plenty of fun moves and grooves all night long.

Not feeling super dancey? No worries, there’ll be a section set up for board games too. We can’t wait to see you then!! 🪩🕺

Welcome, Community Life! This Saturday , we’re hosting our Spring Orientation for students living in Student Housing. Everyone is invited to come by, enjoy some pizza, and hang out. If you’re joining Community Life for the first time this semester, we especially encourage you to attend.

You’ll get the chance to learn more about our community, explore what we offer, and start building meaningful connections and unforgettable memories with fellow residents. We’ll also have karaoke and board games to keep the fun going throughout the event.

We’re excited for Saturday and can’t wait to meet all our Spring students. We look forward to seeing you at our very first Community Life event of the semester!

Join your CLs Rory and Arshwin outside, behind the Cedar Centre building on Jan. 2 at 6:30pm for a fun night of treats, music, and campfire!
