Everyone is invited to listen, learn, and reflect together.

Today, we raised the Pride flag at JIBC as a symbol of inclusion, respect, and solidarity. We are committed to fostering a learning environment where everyone feels seen, supported, and safe to be themselves.

Together, we celebrate diversity, honour the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and reaffirm our commitment to equity both on campus and in the communities we serve.

Today we celebrate 10 years of the Aboriginal Gathering Place at JIBC.

Over the past decade, this space has become a place of connection, learning, ceremony, support, and community. We honour the Elders, students, staff, faculty, and community members whose relationships, teachings, and care have helped shape the Gathering Place into what it is today.

We were honoured to have JIBC Elder-In-Residence Larry Grant from the Musqueam Nation open today’s event in a good way and share teachings as we gathered together to celebrate this important milestone. Elder Larry was joined by his fellow Elders-in-Residence, whose presence alongside him reflected the relationships, guidance, and community that continue to shape and support the Gathering Place.

Thank you to everyone who has walked alongside us over the years and continues to support this important space. We look forward to continuing this work together in relationship and community.

Accessibility isn’t an add‑on. It’s the foundation of inclusive education.

This Global Accessibility Awareness Day, JIBC is showing what real progress looks like – from hands‑on learning aids in the library to research that pushes institutions to design courses with accessibility built in from the start.

When accessibility becomes the norm, every learner has the chance to thrive.
