Congratulations to the students of Team Niagara for their 4th place finish at the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition (OCMC).

We are back from London and thrilled to let you know how well our team did at OCMC 2018. This year’s competition had approximately 300 students from 12 colleges in Ontario.

Our fantastic team of 17 students from the 2 Yr Sales & Marketing & 3 Yr Business Admin. Marketing Programs included domestic as well as international students from 6 different countries (Nigeria, Jamaica, Brazil, Sweden, India, Philippines). The team was a great group to work with and we were proud to have them represent Niagara....along with Nitro our mascot.

Once again had a strong showing, our team competed in 10 events and won awards in 6 of those events, resulting in Niagara achieving a 4th place finish in the overall college standings. We were thrilled that our small but mighty team placed 4th in the overall college standings, behind the 3 biggest colleges that not only did very well but also brought large teams.....Seneca 1st place (32 team members), Algonquin 2nd place (30 team members) Sheridan 3rd (33 team members).

Our coaches this year included Terri Champion, Malcolm Howe, John Sustersic, David Pastirik, Steve Kosh and Lisa Craig and Nadia Gugliotti from our own HR dept. We would like to thank all the coaches for all the time, expertise and level of commitment they offered our students this year, helping to shape them into fierce competitors. As they say, it takes a village....and although our "village" is small compared to some of the bigger schools, your enthusiasm and passion for this event is the magic ingredient to our success every year.

A special shout out to Steve Kosh, who not only shared his experience with OCMC as a competitor to our group but also helped to coach several events and provided us with some training space here on campus.

Niagara’s individual award winners included:
David Obed-Okeke (Sales&Mktg) & Isak Olofsson (BusAdmMktg) 1st Place Intl Marketing Case
Katherine Heykoop (1st Yr Sales&Mktg) 1st Place Entrepreneurship Case
Sheila Mendoza (Sales&Mktg) 2nd Place Quiz Bowl
Abigail Brinkman (Sales&Mktg) & Darren Shortt (BusAdm Mktg) 3rd Place Marketing Case
Darren Shortt (BusAdm Mktg) & Lucas Holtvluwer (Sales&Mktg) 3rd Place Direct Marketing
Diksha Pathak (Sales&Mktg) 4th Place Sales Presentation
