“When you hear about South Africa, your mind goes to majestic wildlife and the blazing sun. As generic as it may seem, these are my favourite memories from my homeland. The scenery is breathtaking with rolling hills, majestic mountains, and farmlands that crawl up the valleys. The earth is tinged red by clay, making every burst of colour even more brilliant. While there aren’t any lions strolling through the streets, there are numerous game reserves that let you get up close and personal. Trust me, there is nothing more exhilarating than sitting in a truck while a pride of lions looks on not three meters away, bemused, or as beautiful as seeing a herd of zebra grazing in the field of a popular resort. Along the coast, the waves are high enough to knock a grown man off his feet. It’s not rare to look out the window to see dolphins breaching the water a hundred meters from the shoreline. The golden sandy beaches make it a prime place for a day in the sun but beware of the great white sharks that lurk just beyond the breakers. South Africa is home to some of the most beautiful places in the world. Wherever you go, you’re bound to see something that takes your breath away.”
