Throwback to the 2026 Vancouver Classical Guitar Festival (VCGFest) at CapU! (August 13–16)

Founded by our amazing guitar instructor, Luis Medina, this year was the largest in the festival’s history, with record attendance and record participant enrollment! Over four days, the festival brought students, faculty, and audiences from across the region together for concerts, masterclasses, and workshops spanning classical, flamenco, and Brazilian guitar traditions.

Apart from Luis, the faculty roster included guest artist Máximo Diego Pujol (Argentina), Festival Guitar Orchestra Director Natasha Pashchenko, flamenco guitarist Iminah Kani, Brazilian guitarist Vinny Linhares, musicianship instructor Lucida Zhao, and Michael Kolk of Vancouver Community College.

Thank you to everyone that attended and participated! 🎶 Looking forward to seeing you again next year! 🎶

CapU Choirs’ In the Same Room is an immersive choral experience where voices inspired by Baroque, Indigenous, Persian, Indian, popular and jazz music meet in conversation.

Conducted & directed by Dr. Hussein Janmohamed, the evening will feature guest artists:
Saina Khaledi (santoor)
Sunny Matharu (tabla)
Shruti Ramani (Jazz/Hindustani singer)
Edmund Lau Sing (piano)

Inspired by the words of Stó:lō Elder Lee Maracle – that we must be in the same room to create a shared future – this concert invites audiences into a musical space where different voices meet and transform together. In a world where differences often divide, In the Same Room offers a powerful reminder of music’s ability to unite.

🎫 Tickets: $12
