What does living the values of Ga’nigǫ̱hí:yo: / Ka’nikonhrí:io (Good Mind) and being a good ancestor in your daily life look like for you?
(Drop your answer below!)

Not the big, once-in-a-lifetime moments — the small, intentional ones.
The way you speak to others.
The choices you make when no one’s watching.
The way you carry yourself in community.

At Six Nations Polytechnic, we talk a lot about living Hodinoshoni values of Ga’nigǫ̱hí:yo: / Ka’nikonhrí:io, a Good Mind — grounded in respect, kindness, and responsibility to one another and future generations.

Big or small — it all matters.
Drop your answer below… you never know who it may inspire!

🚒 New mural by Group of Six just dropped (in our Brantford Campus Student Lounge)! 🔥

👀 A combined effort of 4 of the members of the Group of Six (Lillian Maracle-Williams, Frankie Warner, Imani Mitten & Mya Warner), we are absolutely delighted to highlight their amazing work done to bring vibrance and knowledge all-in-one to our Brantford Student Lounge!

💬 A recent student of our University Consortium Program (UP), Mya Warner shared about the project,
“The theme [of this mural] is the Ganǫhǫnyǫhk (Thanksgiving Address). The Ganǫhǫnyǫhk “Words Before All Else” is a customary protocol speech given amongst the Haudenosaunee peoples before gatherings, meetings and ceremonies to celebrate all life on Earth.”

📚 “As Haudenosaunee people we acknowledge the relations we have to the sky, plant and animal life that surround us, and what that relationship we hold with these vastly different yet similar life forms means for the future generations of our people to come. This speech is vital to begin any gathering because though everyone may be going through their own personal issues, the Ganǫhǫnyǫhkis a way to calm and be a “gathering of minds” to those present.”

🍃 “In order to be fully present, you must first be mindful of all other living things that are among you on this Earth.”

✨ A continuous piece rather than isolated and separated, our artwork depicts our beliefs in “giving thanks” by tying in aspects of traditional Haudenosaunee living rooted in our lived experience as not only Haudenosaunee people, but as well as people who are fortunate enough to come from traditionally rich families.”

💜 Nya:weh (thank you) to the Group of Six for all of their hard work, time, and creative visions they poured into this project. We know students, now and future, will feel more grounded in the Brantford Student Lounge thanks to your efforts.

💜 SNP Skilled Trades had a blast at Skills Ontario 2026!

📣 Not only were we proud to cheer on our very own student competitor, Kyle (Level 2 Machinist), as he competed in Precision Machining, we also had an amazing day filled with smiles, learning, and exploring opportunities in Skilled Trades.

👣 From talking to new prospective Trades students, to letting our current Trades students explore Skills Ontario and everything it offered in terms of new opportunities in Skilled Trades and what that looks like in our day to day lives, it’s safe to say we all enjoyed the adventure!

🗺️ Skilled Trades students at SNP are always making wonderful memories together all while learning about more about where their path in Skilled Trades can take them in the future.

⭐ You can join in on the fun of being a Skilled Trades student at SNP too!

👋 SNPSS is reimagining Canadian history and narratives by elevating Indigenous perspectives, voices, and lived history. This approach promotes a more well-rounded understanding of how historical events have impacted our nations, moving beyond traditional accounts to center Indigenous experiences and insights.

👀 Let’s take a peek at the Two-Row Timeline!
💬 “The Two Row Timeline is a visual representation of history from 1914 to the present. It was created in response to readings and student discussions that inspired me to intentionally focus on the sharing of Indigenous perspectives and lived history alongside events in Canadian History. Our experience is vastly different and deeply personal compared to what is shared in textbooks. I wanted our students to see that Indigenous people were still active and working for the betterment of our nations despite being subject to the many restrictions of the Indian Act,” says Aisha Restoule General, Teacher & Indigenous Curriculum Development Officer.

🍃 With the goal of understanding Rotinohsonni/Haudenosunee protocols for cultural safety, truth-telling, difficult conversations, and relationship building in connection to our complicated histories, this timeline was a collaborative effort that took place over a couple of years and was built by SNPSS educators and students.

📚 SNPSS is redefining education to be more inclusive, meaningful, and connected to the world around us. Education is about more than just grades -- it’s about nurturing identity, fostering belonging, and empowering each student to shape their own future.

⭐ SNPSS is everything a high school should be and more!
