OSTTC’s Employment Readiness Program is designed to help individuals build confidence, strengthen workplace skills, and prepare for employment opportunities. Whether you are entering the workforce for the first time or preparing to re-enter the workplace, this program provides practical training and support to help you succeed.

This 16-week program includes 12 weeks of in-class learning focused on employment readiness, workplace ethics, life skills, and employability training, followed by the potential for a 4-week work placement.

Students will participate in workshops and certifications including:
• First Aid
• WHMIS
• Computer Skills
• Resume & Cover Letter Writing
• Workplace Readiness & Ethics

OSTTC is proud to offer Welding Techniques Level 1 — a hands-on program designed to build the foundational skills needed to begin a career in the skilled trades.

This program prepares students to work toward qualification under CSA W47.1, with testing conducted by the Canadian Welding Bureau, while developing both practical and theoretical welding knowledge.

Students will gain experience in:
• Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
• Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
• Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
• Welding theory aligned with Apprenticeship In-Class Training standards

This program is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding or the skilled trades.

OSTTC's Construction Safety Training provides participants with the knowledge and certifications needed to work safely and confidently on construction and industrial job sites.

During this 5-day program, participants will receive training in:

✔️ Elevated Work Platform
✔️ Worker Health & Safety Awareness

This program also covers hazard recognition, workplace safety, occupational health, and the legal responsibilities of working safely on the job.

OSTTC is offering a First Aid & CPR course designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to respond in emergency situations.

In this hands-on course, you will learn how to:
• Respond to cardiovascular emergencies
• Assist with choking incidents (adults, children, and infants)
• Perform CPR using the latest guidelines
• Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Participants must be able to successfully demonstrate all required skills to achieve certification.

OSTTC’s 5-Day Intensive Land Based Pathways micro-credential offers participants the opportunity to build foundational canoe, kayak, and expedition skills through hands-on outdoor learning and land-based training.

Participants will explore:
• Paddling basics
• Outdoor safety & navigation
• Sustainability & environmental stewardship
• Bushcraft & land-based skills
• Cultural awareness & outdoor experiential learning

Participants may also receive Paddle Canada certifications in:
✔️ Introduction to Tandem Lake Canoeing
✔️ Basic Sea Kayak Skills

This program also serves as a great introduction to the larger Land Based Pathways program launching next spring.
