Have you wanted to get involved with the International Department here at Lakehead Orillia? Check out the Global Ambassador Program! It is a great way to learn about the different cultures and groups that are on campus, as well as to get involved with events happening on campus.
Amber, a first-year education major as well as a first-year Global Ambassador, says the program has been a great way to get involved while working towards her goal of studying abroad with Lakehead's Global Me program!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Did you know that Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862?
The army was led by General Ignacio Zaragoza. The holiday symbolizes resistance against foreign intervention and is typically celebrated with traditional Mexican food (tacos, mole), attending parades, listening to Mariachi music, and viewing folk dancing.

Let's Celebrate! It is Lakehead's last day of the campaign for 2022. Today we celebrate our differences, together! There are so many different holidays being celebrated today. Happy Holi, Happy Chunga Choepa, and Happy Flag Day for those in and from Aruba! What better way to celebrate diversity than to host a great final event! Join us at 3pm today outside of Simcoe Hall to celebrate Holi.

Happening Today! Join the International team to celebrate Holi, a Hindu festival celebrating good over evil. This colourful event will include a colour throw which requires wearing clothing that you do not mind getting stained with colour. For those not interested in participating in the colour throw, we will have traditional music, and snacks. Come celebrate diversity with us!

Join us for a free bowl of soup to reflect on the changes you have made in your life to create a more inclusive community. The soup is free to all students, staff, and faculty and will be available at the Kiosk in Simcoe Hall while supplies last.

Join us for this discussion with community members in various roles in Thunder Bay and Simcoe County, where they will share their work with newcomers and how this work positively impacts their communities.
