Indigenous Policy and Administration, Carleton University

Indigenous Policy and Administration, Carleton University The IPA graduate programs prepare students to be innovators and leaders in Indigenous and non-Indigenous governments and organizations.

The School of Public Policy and Administration online graduate diplomas and a master's concentration in Indigenous Policy and Administration. The online concentration is part of the in-person Master of Public Policy and Administration. Our graduate programs in Indigenous Policy and Administration (IPA) prepare students to be innovators and leaders in First Nation, Métis and Inuit governments and o

rganizations, as well as in the other governments and organizations that work with Indigenous communities. These programs recognize that the environment of Indigenous policy and administration continues to evolve: Supreme Court decisions on land and rights issues; self-government and nation-building challenges; foundational shifts in Federal, provincial and territorial policies and laws related to various Indigenous issues; and a young, educated and growing Indigenous population. Such developments increase the need for leaders who can work in this fluid environment with a level of cultural competency and an understanding of Indigenous history, law, economics and politics that go beyond a simple awareness of Aboriginal issues.
