I am thrilled to let you know that have recently appointed as a Member of the Argentinian National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences.

A good colleague and friend asked me to provide materials for the nomination (you know who you are... thank you!), and even I knew I was going to be nominated, receiving the letter with the appointment was a wonderful surprise and a moment of immense joy.

I humbly thank the Academy, my nominator, and the committee. Above all, I thank the students I have/had the privilege of supervising, for it is their talent, dedication, and achievements that truly deserve this unexpected honor.

As a Corresponding Member in Canada, I will try to represent our incredible country and its unique community of researchers. I hope to do justice to their achievements, the lessons they have shared with me, and the enduring tradition of public education and research that defines science in the Republic of Argentina.

Thanks!

Dear Dr. Gabriel Wainer,

It is my pleasure to inform you that the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences (Academia Nacional de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales), at its Plenary Session of May 29, 2026, appointed you Corresponding Member in Ontario, Canada.

Your formal induction into the Academy consists of a public, in-person session in which, following a brief presentation of your career and the presentation of the diploma accrediting you as a member, you will have 30 to 40 minutes to deliver a lecture on a topic within your area of expertise. The lecture will be published in our Annals, recorded, and uploaded to our social media platforms and YouTube channel.
I invite you to visit our website, www.ancefn.org.ar, where you will find the Statute and Regulations governing the ANCEFN and learn more about its current and past activities.

Along with my warm congratulations on your election, and with confidence in your valuable collaboration in advancing the Academy’s purposes and objectives, I take this opportunity to extend my highest regards.

Sincerely,

Acad. Alicia Dickenstein
President
