We are looking for 10-15 students, who will be assigned 2-3 countries each. Send us a message or email us at [email protected] if you are interested, and we will add you to our Google drive with further details!

As the January term comes to a close, we're excited to announce our first Beers with Peers event! Join us next Monday, January 25 at 7pm and ask Rachel LaFortune about her experience at Human Rights Watch or her research and advocacy on Indigenous rights to water, health, and culture in Papau New Guinea.

Beers with Peers is a career chat for 10 students and a professional in international human rights law. The professional discusses their career and the various different avenues to work in the field. The small group setting allows for a more engaged conversation.

Tickets are FREE and available at:

Hey Everyone!

We wanted to do a short series of posts about the current Executive Team. Each day We will be posting about one of the team members, their year, role, why they joined CLAIHR and any causes that are super important to them. First up we have our current President Ashvi! Can't wait to see everyone at the AGM on Monday!

Hey guys! My name is Ashvi, and I am this year’s president of CLAIHR. I'm a 3L student in the English Common Law Program, and I’m interested in immigration & refugee law, international law, family law, and of course, human rights law! I joined CLAIHR as a 1L rep, and I’ve just loved what the organization does to spread awareness and show uOttawa students what international human rights is all about. A cause I’m particularly passionate about is the climate crisis and the related human rights issues, such as populations who are forced to leave their homes because of environmental impacts, but who aren’t recognized as refugees under international law. For more information, check out Climate Refugees at: https://www.climate-refugees.org/
