Trinity Western University's program in Ottawa, that offers professional internships, certificate‑earning studies, and community living in the heart of Canada’s capital. The Laurentian Leadership Centre of Trinity Western University is a residential internship program in Ottawa for third and fourth year university students and graduate students consisting of academic courses, internships and community living. Students spend a semester living with peers at the Booth Mansion in downtown Ottawa, while taking up to three academic courses, and completing an internship tailored to their interests, experience and career goals. Meet Jessica Sauter! | LLC Student Spotlight

Jessica is a fourth-year Political Studies student spending her semester on Parliament Hill through an internship at the House of Commons.

She chose LLC for the opportunity to complement her academic studies with practical experience in Canada’s parliamentary environment.

Outside of politics, Jessica enjoys reading, baking, and playing guitar. And here’s something you might not expect: she’s a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo!

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation,

Today, we remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, honour Survivors and their families, and recognize the lasting impact of this history on Indigenous peoples and communities across Canada.

As a Christian community, we believe that truth matters, that every person is made in the image of God, and that reconciliation calls us to listen, learn, seek justice, and pursue peace.

Our LLC students joined events in Ottawa today, taking time to listen, remember, and learn.

May we continue to walk in humility, truth, and reconciliation. 🧡

200 years of Ottawa. 🇨🇦

Today, Ottawa marks 200 years since the founding of Bytown in 1826.

What began as a settlement connected to the construction of the Rideau Canal grew into a city, a national capital, and a place where generations of Canadians have gathered to serve, lead, work, and shape public life.

Today, students at the Laurentian Leadership Centre have the opportunity to experience that history up close.

Since 2002, the LLC has brought students to downtown Ottawa for a semester of academic study, internship experience, and life in community. From the Booth Mansion, students step into the city each day to learn in classrooms, work alongside professionals, build relationships, and experience Canada’s public life firsthand.

200 years of Ottawa. 24 years of LLC. And a new generation preparing to serve.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🇨🇦

TWU Law in Ottawa students visited the Canadian Intellectual Property Office / Office de la propriété intellectuelle du Canada (CIPO) in Gatineau, QC, to deepen their understanding of intellectual property in practice.

During the session, students heard from guest speakers who are experts in the field, gaining insight into the role of intellectual property within Canada’s legal and innovation landscape. They also had the opportunity to engage with questions grounded in real-world applications of their studies.

We are grateful to the CIPO team for taking the time to invest in our students - sharing their expertise and providing a valuable learning experience that connects legal theory with practice.

We were pleased to visit Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada (GAC) for a conversation with Austin Jean and Karianne Larocque, exploring the complexities of Canada’s crisis communications in the context of global events.

Through this discussion, TWU Law in Ottawa students gained insight into how responses are developed and communicated during times of uncertainty, along with the strategic considerations involved in public messaging.

We are grateful for this meaningful learning opportunity and for the time invested in equipping students with practical insight into public service and communication.

This year, TWU Law in Ottawa students attended Question Period in the Parliament of Canada, gaining firsthand insight into the parliamentary process and the work of the House of Commons of Canada Chambre des communes du Canada.

Following Question Period, the group met with MP Bob Zimmer, who welcomed them to West Block and engaged in a thoughtful discussion on Parliament, public service, and the day-to-day work on the Hill, while also responding to students’ questions on Canada’s parliamentary system and current national issues.

As part of the Laurentian Leadership Centre experience, opportunities like this continue to connect classroom learning with practical exposure to Canada’s legal and political institutions.
