Based on the success of various virtual conferences we have attended, we are considering holding the symposium virtually! Please fill out the Doodle poll here https://doodle.com/poll/mkv9n9ghi53k27nt
for us to get an idea on interest and when the best time would be!

Please indicate all availabilities.

03/18/2020

Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 and recommendations to avoid large group gatherings, we will be cancelling this year's OCIB symposium. Thank you to everyone who registered as a participant, those who already expressed interest in volunteering and any sponsors who supported this year's OCIB symposium.

03/14/2020

Update about coronavirus: we do not expect to postpone or cancel the event as of yet. However we are looking into contingency plans such as broadcasting presentations online or postponing until May if the need arises.

Two more days until registration closes!

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kathleen Weathers, recently elected president of the Ecological Society of America, has been confirmed as our plenary speaker!

Dr. Weathers is an ecosystem ecologist at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in New York. Her research focuses on quantifying how biology affects geochemistry and biogeochemical cycling across heterogeneous landscapes, and within and among multiple systems (air-land-water).

Last year’s organisers are looking for 2 engaged UOttawa students to take over the “reigns of power”. If you’ve got the ability to write emails, plan ahead, and work with others then you’ve got what it takes! This is a unique opportunity to engage with your peers, build your CV, and be part of something that will make a lasting impression.

If you’re interested in being one of the UOttawa co-chairs for the 2019 OCIB symposium please send us a brief letter (by Oct 1st) detailing why you’re the right candidate. Contact the OCIB symposium with the [email protected] address.

It was a pleasure working with so many of you last year and we look forward to what this year’s organisers will bring to the table.
