Our UOttawa Living Lab team is proud to have contributed to this pioneering large-scale bilingual infant study led by the awesome
Krista Byers-Heinlein. The study found that bilingual and monolingual infants showed the same preference for infant directed speech (that higher pitched melodic "baby talk" we often use instinctively when talking to infants 😊). Covid-19 Social Distancing and Language Development Survey for Parents:

We are looking for parents of English monolingual children between 8 and 36 months who are practicing social distancing because of Covid-19.

We invite you to participate in the survey conducted by the Language Development Lab at the University of Ottawa- in conjunction with language development researchers all over the world!

The study aims to investigate the impact of social distancing on children's language development. Participation involves answering two questionnaires, one questionnaire now and one questionnaire when quarantine measures have ceased.

Unfortunately, due to study restrictions, we can only use data concerning children who are hearing more than 90% English at home, who were not premature (2 weeks or more), and who do not have severe auditory or visual deficits.

To participate, here is the first questionnaire!:
