Then and now: 2025 marks 100 years of the ceremony for the engineering community! 💍⚙️ The ring reflects the moral, ethical and professional commitment made by the engineer who wears it.

As we look forward to this Saturday’s Ritual Calling of an Engineer, we couldn’t help but reminisce about the thousands of students who have been a part of this ceremony and graduated from our programs - since 1961!

Are you receiving your Iron Ring this weekend? Tag us! We’d love to celebrate with you. ❤️🐦‍⬛

🎓✨ Every June, our graduating class steps onto the convocation stage with pride, degree in hand and minds brimming with innovative ideas. For this year’s Engineering and Design graduates, those ideas took shape in their fourth-year capstone and studio design projects.

The Faculty of Engineering and Design has pioneered these team-style projects for over 25 years, cultivating entrepreneurial spirit and critical thinking to tackle real-world problems.

This years industry-disrupting innovations from our talented students include urban initiatives, solutions to the housing crisis, robots detecting water and ice on the moon and more.

This morning, Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre, Yasir Naqvi, announced a $2 Million investment from Natural Resources Canada to fund Carleton University researcher Matthew Johnson’s aerial methane inventory work. ✈️

The announcement kicked off the first day of the 2024 CanCH4 Symposium: Methane by the Numbers, a technical meeting to share research and measurement data on methane emissions to support Faster & Further, Canada’s National Methane Strategy.

Professor Johnson aims to address the critical lack of accurate, timely, source-resolved methane emissions data that are essential to the mitigation, regulation, intensity validation, and tracking of oil and gas sector.
